Edson and Bowman

Charles McKenzie was the son of Paul and Margaret McKenzie and grandson of Kenneth and Jessie McKenzie, who were Byrne acestors. He was engaged to Charlotte Edson, but died before the marriage could take place. Charlotte was pregnant at the time and gave birth to Charles McKenzie Edson in 1905 (see below).

Johnes Eadson was born c. September 1564 at Ripley, West Yorkshire, England. He married Elizabeth Darnebrocke (born c 17th March 1563 at Pateley Bridge, Yorkshire) on the 17th July 1585. Elizabeth died in 1631.

  2. Johnis Eadson was born on the 26th October 1655 at Pateley Bridge and married Mary. Johnis died on the 15th June 1717 at Pateley Bridge. Mary died 19th April 1720 at Low Bishopside, Pateley Bridge.

  1. Francis Eadson was born c 11th December 1720 at Pateley Bridge. He married Hannah Corker, born c 18th April 1725 at Pateley Bridge (father Robert Corker) on the 5th July 1760. Francis died 19th March 1797 at Wilshill Pateley Bridge.

Seventh Generation: child of Franics and Hannah Eadson

  1. John Eadson was born c 25th October 1760 at Pateley Bridge. He married Hannah Dobby, born c 31st Jan 1763 ( father Andrew Dobby) on the 11th April 1784. Hannah died on the 23rd January 1840 at Pateley Bridge and John died in 1841 at Knott, Pateley Bridge.

  3. John Eadson was born c 14th November 1784 at Pateley Bridge. He married Sarah Gill on the 24th April 1806.

Ninth Generation: child of John and Sarah Eadson

  1. John Edson was born c 22nd November 1807 at Pateley Bridge. He married Hannah Bowman, born circa 1804/1805. Hannah had already had one child, Benjamin, with an unknown partner. The couple migrated to Australia aboard the James T Foord on the 7th of November 1849. Their children on this trip were William, Isaac, John, Joseph and Benjamin. William and Benjamin are listed as gardeners, as was John senior. Hannah died 22nd June 1851 at Richmond, Victoria. John died in 1860.

i. Benjamin Bowman was born on the 29th July 1827 at the Parish of Hampsthwaite, Yorkshire, England - born out of wedlock, father unknown. He married F Harriet Williams, born 21st January 1838 at Upper Slaughter, Gloucestershire, England on 28th April 1853. F Harriet died on the 2nd January 1900 at Prahran, Victoria. Benjamin died on the 29th January 1901 at Almond Street, C (? Caulfield), Victoria. Their children:

i. Henry Edson Bowman was born on the 11th July 1855 at Church Street, Richmond. He married Ann Jane Burton (born c 1856 at Carrick, Tasmania) on the 28th November 1882. Henry died 20th March 1911 at Church Street Brighton. Ann died on the 20th October 1944 at Plenty Rd, Bundoora.

ii. Frederick Bowman was born c 1857 at Richmond, Victoria. He died on the 18th November 1860 at Church Street, Richmond.

iii. Alfred George Ernest Bowman was born 17th September 1860 at Church Street, Richmond. He died in 1896 at Caulfield.

iv. Harriet Bowman was born c 1862 at Richmond.

v. Florence Matilda Bowman was born c 1862 at Richmond. She married James Hand (born c 1860 at Beechworth, Victoria) on the 10th June 1885. Florence died about 1935 at Yarra Junction, Victoria.

5. Isaac Edson was born 30th October 1837. He died in 1856 in Victoria.

6 John Edson was born c 1838. He married Harriet Fuller (born 16th May 1859 at CP, Camden, NSW) on the 25th May 1876. John died on the 17th February 1908, aged 67, at Gundagai District, NSW. Harriet died on the 11th December 1933 at NNG, NSW.

i. John Edson was born on the 18th September 1876 at Kimo, Gundagai, NSW. He married Frances Florence Wood (born 1879 at Gundagai District, NSW) on the 7th June 1899. Frances died in 1951 at Leeton, NSW. John died on the 18th April 1964 at Leeton, NSW.

ii. Mary Edson was born on the 29th May May 1878 at Kimo, Gundagai, NSW. She married Richard Wickstead Neve (born on the 19th May 1873 at Gundagai, NSW) on the 15th April 1900. Richard died on the 3rd April 1948 at Junee, NSW. Mary died 7th August 1955 at Junee, NSW.

iii. Thomas Edson was born in 1881 at Kimo, Gundagai, NSW. He married Mabel Grace Smart (born 23rd July 1887 at NNG, NSW) on the 23rd November 1909. Thomas died in 1963 at Coolamon, NSW. Mabel died in 1969 at Narrandera, NSW.

iv. Hannah Edson was born in 1883 at Kimo, Gundagai, NSW. Her first spouse is unknown. She later married William Henry Smart (born 1882 at NNG, NSW) on the 23rd November 1904.William died on the 6th May 1967 at Nangus near Gundagai, NSW. Hannah died on the 24th January 1978 at Nangus near Gundagai, NSW.

v. George Edson was born on the 12th of September 1886 at Kimo, Gundagai, NSW. He died on the 28th November 1899 (age 3) at Nangus near Gundagai, NSW.

vi. Henry Edson was born on the 4th December 1891 at Kimo, Gundagai, NSW. He died on the 14th November 1906, aged 15, at Nangus Gundagai, NSW.

7. Joseph Edson was born in April or June 1841/42 at Leeds, Yorkshire, England. He married Margaret Newman (born c 1845) in 1864. Joseph died in 1901 at Warracknabeal, Victoria. Margaret died in 1929 at Rainbow, Victoria.

i. William George Edson was born in 1864 at Richmond, Victoria. He died in infancy in 1864.

ii. Annie Maria Edson was born in 1866 at Pleasant Creek, Stawell, Victoria. She married Chas McMillan in 1898 and died in 1954 at Rainbow, Victoria.

iii. Joseph Jede Edson was born in 1868 at Pleasant Creek, Stawell, Victoria. He died in 1944 at Maryborough,Victoria.

iv. Thomas George Edson was born in 1870 at Pleasant Creek, Stawell, Victoria. He married Elizabeth Ann Fulbrook (born c 1885 in Victoria) in 1908. Thomas died 1954 at Stawell. Elizabeth died in 1951 at Horsham.

v. John Alfred Edson was born c 1873 at Dring Dring, Victoria. He married Ethel May Henstridge (born c 1877 at Mount Gambier, South Australia) in 1904. John died in 1946 at Balwyn, Victoria. Ethel died in 1954 at Kew, Victoria.

vi. Hannah Edson was born in 1877at Horsham, and died in infancy in 1877.

vii. Charlotte Hannah EDSON was born c 1877. She was engaged to Charles McKenzie (born 1873 at Mortlake, Victoria) but he died on the 20th August 1904, at age 31 years, from a ruptured appendix. Charlotte was pregnant at the time with her only child. In 1936, at the age of around 59, Charlotte married Ludwig Heinrich Roll (born 22nd February 1873 at Gilles Plains, South Australia). Ludwig died 7th January 1955. Charlotte died on the 9th February 1976 at Rainbow, Victoria.

i. Charles McKenzie Edson was born in 1905. He died in 1963, aged 58 at Heidleberg. He served in WW2 and was one of the district servicemen who received a welcome home.
